GCCC partners with Resonance School of Music

WOODBURY — The Gloucester County Children’s Choir and the Resonance School of Music are partnering to bring the community choir experience to more children and teens in the South Jersey area.

Beginning in September, the GCCC will begin holding all auditions and rehearsals at the Resonance School of Music’s state-of-the-art and centrally-located Woodbury studio at 3 S. Broad St. Auditions will be held on September 4, 11, 18 and 25. Call 856-589-5149 to schedule an audition.

In addition, Resonance School of Music and the Gloucester County Children’s Choir Board of Trustees will work together to create greater public awareness of the Choir with the goal of recruiting new choristers and introducing more children to the world of choral music.

“Excellence in musical training is a core value of both the Gloucester County Children’s Choir and the Resonance School. So this is a natural partnership,” said GCCC founder and Director Sylvia Richardson. “Resonance requires of their students the kind of dedication and commitment that we require of our choristers. It is a natural fit.”

The GCCC was founded in 1993 to provide an opportunity for young performers to participate in a fine performing arts organization of the highest quality, to provide training for participants regardless of gender, race, creed or disability and to encourage a deeper appreciation of the arts.

The choir performs a wide variety of music including, classical, spiritual, gospel and musical theater. The Choir hosts an annual Winter and Spring Concert and also performs throughout the area upon request. The Choir is funded, in part, by a grant from the Gloucester County Cultural and Heritage Commission at Rowan College at Gloucester County, a partner of the NJ State Council on the Arts/Department of State and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Resonance School of Music was founded in 2011 as a small school for piano and voice. Since then it has expanded to add training in a wide variety of other instruments and, in 2013, added its Conservatory Programs. Resonance also offers youth programs, Music for Little Mozarts and The Studio of Rock, and a recording studio. Resonance has locations in Sewell and Woodbury, NJ.
